Alcoholism is progressive and fatal - period. It is also a binary state - you either got it, or you don't. If you got it, and you know by the voice in your head starts screaming at you the moment you put DOWN the drink, then for your sake I hope you find the steps.
If you've got a spiritual advisor who is telling you otherwise, there is a pretty good chance he's on commission from that guy on the left.
Today, I choose life - and true life begins with God, which happens immediately and completely after completing step 9.
