Pax Quae Exsuperat Omnem Sensum

There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.

--Eppeciteus

Stop thinking, and thus end all your problems.

--Lao Tsu, Tao te Ching (20) (Mitchell translation)

As we go through the day we pause, when agitated or doubtful, and ask for the right thought or action. We constantly remind ourselves we are no longer running the show, humbly saying to ourselves many times each day "Thy will be done." We are then in much less danger of excitement, fear, anger, worry, self-pity, or foolish decisions. We become much more efficient. We do not tire so easily, for we are not burning up energy foolishly as we did when we were trying to arrange life to suit ourselves.

-- Alcoholics Anonymous,  (87:3)

I spent my first nine years in AA squinting fruitlessly at The Twelve Traditions shade on the wall every day.  It was like trying to read ancient Sanskrit!  I knew the words of course but the meaning was indecipherable.

Then one day I finished my last amends.  That night I strolled into my home group and stopped dead in my tracks.  The traditions lit up to me like a runway in the dark of night.  Of course you were together more important than me!  Of course is the final arbiter!  And on and on and on...

Until I completed my 9th step, there was Ed still separation from you, and it is through you that I access God.  In the ultimate Godhead moment of the final amends, ALL my judgment was suspended - my judgement of God, my judgement of you, and my judgment of you. It was only then that Her healing grace could really shine through.  It was the peace that passes all understanding - Pax quae exsuperat omnem sensum.

The occasional worldly clamors aside, thus it has been ever since.  I am so over paid.  I love you all.

     Yours in love and service,

COG, 1st Class.

Welcome as a witness to a fools journey out of the darkness. I welcome all tidings - you are all my teachers on this path toward a meaningful and purposeful sobriety.
